 COA Guidelines

Over the past year SGA has taken your feedback, reviewed our processes, and worked with administrators to stengthen the COA Guidelines and what we at SGA were able to produce was a process that we think will make COA much more efficient in the 2013-2014 COA Guidelines.

One of the biggest complaints student leaders have made concerning the COA process has been the disconnect between one year’s leadership and the next in planning events for their organizations. This disconnect in previous years has led to some organizations not being able to use the COA funds allocated to them. With this in mind, and also a realization of a tighter budget, the Macon – Warner Robins SGA decided to readdress the COA allocation process and hopefully make if more efficient.

What are some changes leaders of recognized student organizations (RSOs) can expect?

  • Early to mid September, you will know exactly how much COA your RSO will receive under the COA Points System. (60% of COA is distributed using the Points System)
  • 4 weeks before any event using COA, a representative from your RSO must speak with SGA to determine if the event qualifies for COA funding
  • in the event that your RSO spends all of its initial COA distribution under the Points System, you may return to SGA to request further funding for COA qualifying events from the COA reserve (40% of COA will be held in reserve for new and active RSOs)

SGA understands this will require some extra work from both us at SGA and you in the RSOs. However, we believe this will pay off in the long run and make us much better for it.
